Yogyakarta, a city I keep coming back to
I rewrite my journal on several years ago before the pandemic hit, just because I missed travel. A lot.

I’m lucky enough I have a little bit of time for travel. This time, I’m going to one of a well known city in Indonesia, Yogyakarta. Yogyakarta is one of the biggest city in Indonesia. This is not my first time I’m going solo to the city and I don’t know why I keep loving it. People who never been to Yogyakarta probably have a lot of questions, like : What is Yogyakarta famous for? Where to visit in Yogyakarta? What to do in Yogyakarta? And so many. There are lot of answers too, but this time I will tell you my journey around Yogyakarta in a day.
I went around Kotagede, the oldest area in Yogyakarta. I heard it’s an area that popular with silver jewelry production, with historical ambience, the oldest mosque in the city and so many more! Here we go!
I visited a traditional market in Kotagede area. It’s called as “Pasar Kotagede”. There is so much crowds, the sellers who sells so various things, and the traditional food as well! They are so colorful and looks delicious. So i bought some of them. Too bad i can’t even remember all of the name of cake! But the one with flower shape is called “Kembang Waru”.
After I visited traditional market, I brought my feet to another place. It’s a restaurant called “Bakmi Jowo Mbah Gito”. I will try the favorite menu : a boiled noodle! It consist of noodle, chicken, vegetables, egg and spices. It’s so delicious! They also set the place with traditional Javanese ambience.
So I just spent the morning and day with a full stomach. Night comes and I’m ready for the new adventures. I’m going to Alun-Alun Selatan, a public place near the Palace of Yogyakarta. There is something unique that attracts me here. There are so many cars with neon lights! It looks more fun as people turn the loud music on while riding the cars. Yes it’s basically a little car with some modification with some pedals and neon lights and music. So fun!
This city is beautiful in the day an night. The culture, history, the people are amazing. You can’t just spend a day, a week or month. There are so much things to see and to discover, and I really recommend anyone to have a visit!
